I started collaging to unwind, cutting out text and imagery and keeping them organized. I find this process of categorization therapeutic. I can spend hours on end flipping through pages. I allow myself to cut anything I instinctually gravitate to. I amass piles of incoherent and de-contextualized words, and phrases. I sort them and keep them in a binder that I now refer to as my library. It is one of my most prized possessions and a forever project I aim to develop and perfect. It is with that tool that I start the selection process. A manic display of delicate paper that I arrange and rearrange, disperse, and regroup until I am satisfied.
